Workaround: add acpi=noirq to the boot options: When you see the initial menu: 1) Press ESC - confirm you want tet boot mode 2) type linux acpi=noirq and enter 3) Live CD should boot normally I think this is a duplicate of Bug # 90271. Unfortunately acpi=noirq doesn't help. I'm trying to resolve this bug for months now, in fact since Ubuntu 6.04, and NOTHING helps. Running Gentoo with a custom kernel and 8139too in PIO mode works flawlessly though - but I want Ubuntu back! Hi, hmm I can only attach the output of lspci and dmesg running Gentoo with a custom kernel.
