[Bug 6428] Re: black background rendered when transparency is used
this sux, i can't close this bug, therefore I have to change to status to invalid, sorry. seems like launchpad is buggy or I don't have permission to change it. ** Changed in: gdesklets (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => In Progress ** Changed in: gdesklets (Ubuntu) Status: In Progress => Invalid -- black background rendered when transparency is used https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/6428 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 6428] Re: black background rendered when transparency is used
We mark it wontfix because there's no sane way to apply translucency to gtk+-2.10 widgets. -- black background rendered when transparency is used https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/6428 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 6428] Re: black background rendered when transparency is used
Won't fix in the 0.3x series. This will need gtk-2.12 and higher to be working. Will have to wait for 0.40 I guess ** Changed in: gdesklets Status: Confirmed => Won't Fix -- black background rendered when transparency is used https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/6428 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Well, this isn't real transparency what you are seeing, sorry! -- black background rendered when transparency is used https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/6428 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 6428] Re: black background rendered when transparency is used - ok when using beryl
Desklets in Debian Etch stable get translucent when "XComposite support" ist switched off(!). [Bug 6428] Re: black background rendered when transparency is used
FYI, I've removed the translucency option in gDesklets now. The code is in our repo. Since gtk2.12 GtkWindows have an opacity now. The problem is, that we can't depend on gtk2.12, otherwise lots of people who are using older systems won't be able to run gDesklets. There isn't a satisfying solution to fix the bug. At least not at the moment. On the other hand gDesklets-"nextgen" features real transparency, because it's using cairo as backend by default (other backends like gtk+, qt, tcl/tk, etc. are possible). If anyone has an idea how to fix the bug, I'd be happy to have a look at it. ** Changed in: gdesklets (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Christian Meyer ** Also affects: gdesklets (upstream) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: gdesklets (upstream) Importance: Undecided => Medium Assignee: (unassigned) => Christian Meyer Status: New => Confirmed -- black background rendered when transparency is used https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/6428 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 6428] Re: black background rendered when transparency is used
gDesklets will never really work with translucency enabled. This is due to gtk+. Although, there might be a way to fix it which we don't know. -- black background rendered when transparency is used https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/6428 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 6428] Re: black background rendered when transparency is used
Translucency should not be enabled by default in gDesklets, because a composite manager is not installed by default. If you install gDesklets on a clean Dapper system, the desklets will all have a black background because translucency is enabled by default. Turning off translucency makes the desklets look as they should. -- black background rendered when transparency is used https://launchpad.net/bugs/6428 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The same happens in the latest XGL in Dapper, I have tried with the starterbar and many sidecandy monitors. -- black background rendered when transparency is used https://launchpad.net/bugs/6428 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
