UPDATE: I am able to find the printer and install it from a LiveCD of Ubuntu 10.04.1. The Ubuntu 10.04.1 LiveCD found the printer at: smb://NET/Printer whereas installed versions find it at: smb://MSHOME/NET/Printer So, I decided to go back into my Maverick beta here and try to find the printer as I just did on the LiveCD. No luck. I inputed smb://NET/Printer into the Device URI hoping for it to work, still no luck. Its possible that apparmor is preventing access; however the output from /var/log/kern.log is inconclusive so please could you execute the following commands: sudo aa-complain /usr/bin/smbclient smbclient -L //MSHOME/NET If apparmor is blocking access, these commands should enable the access and produce some good log data in /var/log/kern.log and /var/log/apparmor; please can you attach these to the bug report once you have completed execution of the commands. Thanks for the information that you provided in your last few comments. Looking at the output of the commands in #3, it looks like your computer is having trouble communicating with the print server.
