in network manager was blocking my ability to print. I switched back to

2010-09-28 Thread James Page
From the information that you have provided it does appear that your
desktop is experiencing a more general network issue when connecting to
the printer rather than a Samba specific issue.

Please update this bug with any further information that you have once
you have tested using a 10.04 livecd.

Thanks

2010-09-28 Thread mrandrzejak
UPDATE:

I am able to find the printer and install it from a LiveCD of Ubuntu
10.04.1.

The Ubuntu 10.04.1 LiveCD found the printer at: smb://NET/Printer
whereas installed versions find it at: smb://MSHOME/NET/Printer

So, I decided to go back into my Maverick beta here and try to find
the printer as I just did on the LiveCD. No luck. I inputed
smb://NET/Printer into the Device URI hoping for it to work, still no
luck.

I may try downloading the Maverick LiveCD and see if I can find the
printer from a beta LiveCD

[Bug 645630] Re: Unable to connect to CIFS host

2010-09-27 Thread James Page
Its possible that apparmor is preventing access; however the output from
/var/log/kern.log is inconclusive so please could you execute the
following commands:

 sudo aa-complain /usr/bin/smbclient
 smbclient -L //MSHOME/NET

If apparmor is blocking access, these commands should enable the access
and produce some good log data in /var/log/kern.log and
/var/log/apparmor; please can you attach these to the bug report once
you have completed execution of the commands.

Are you having any other issues with network access other than printing?

Thanks for the information that you provided in your last few comments.

Looking at the output of the commands in #3, it looks like your computer
is having trouble communicating with the print server.

If you have a firewall running on your computer this could be blocking
outbound and inbound traffic to the print server.

Please could you run the following command and attach the output to this
bug report.
