2010-10-05 Thread Laurent Idlas
OK Omar, again thanks for sorting this out for me. On second thought I could
have reflected a bit more and found the solution...
Anyway I avoid re-installing 10.10 from scratch which is a good thing.
Thanks again.

EXCELLENT! Thanks very much to all it works fine now. Ok I write it down to
help others in turn if it happens
and also to reproduce this solution if it ever happens again. Great.

Just another test. can you verify the state of your HD with disk manager
(system- administration), and make a ramtest from a livecd?
it sounds very strange this bug.

[Bug 645896] Re: When click on Home, VLC starts

2010-10-04 Thread Omer Akram
to reproduce this bug. right click on any folder, select 'open with
other application' select any app from there and click 'open' ('remember
this application for "folder" files' should be ticked). the app that you
selected to open the folder will open. now if you open your home dir or
any sub-dir in your home from 'Places' menu the associated app will
open.

To solve the problem: right click on any folder, select 'open with other
application' a dialog will pop, there select 'file brower' and click
open. now everything should be back to normal.
