[Bug 64741] Re: Ubuntu freeze for a while - lost interrupt reported
** Attachment added: dmidecode output http://librarian.launchpad.net/4705391/dmidecode.txt ** Description changed: Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6-686 I Feel that after upgrading to 2.6.15-27-686 the machine is getting freeze several times. System monitor reports heavy disk usage but no application is working. dmesg reports lost interrupt from /dev/hdb (cdrom) but the only application hat has this device open is hald. I want to check it before move to 6.10 to allow fix any bugs in case this is a software error. It looks to happen after screen saver are activated + + Linux dt03 2.6.15-27-686 #1 SMP PREEMPT Sat Sep 16 02:13:27 UTC 2006 + i686 GNU/Linux -- Ubuntu freeze for a while - lost interrupt reported https://launchpad.net/bugs/64741 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Disabling DMA aparently solve the problem but this is a new behavior. I've DMA actived since 5.10 because DVD is too slow w/out it. $ sudo hdparm -I /dev/hdb /dev/hdb: ATAPI CD-ROM, with removable media Model Number: PHILIPS CD-RW/DVD-ROM SCB5265 Serial Number: Firmware Revision: TX07 Standards: Likely used CD-ROM ATAPI-1 Configuration: DRQ response: 50us. Packet size: 12 bytes Capabilities: LBA, IORDY(can be disabled) DMA: sdma0 sdma1 sdma2 mdma0 mdma1 mdma2 udma0 udma1 *udma2 Cycle time: min=120ns recommended=120ns PIO: pio0 pio1 pio2 pio3 pio4 Cycle time: no flow control=120ns IORDY flow control=120ns The console get freeze and shutdown failed to complete after a try to turn it on again after several some hours working w/out problem. -- Ubuntu freeze for a while - lost interrupt reported https://launchpad.net/bugs/64741 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
