[Bug 651104] Re: intel graphics turbo disabled

2013-12-15 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Edward Lee, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p linux

Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily
folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow
additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the
upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you
tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For
example:
kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.13-rc3

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next
to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please
remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your
understanding.

[Bug 651104] Re: intel graphics turbo disabled

2013-09-17 Thread rocco
I have started to get this problem on my Dell E6510 with ubuntu 12.04 64
Bit starting with Kernel 3.2.0.-52.78, in 3.2.0.-53.81 it is still
there. Seems like the system is booting and performing worse than
before. With the old kernel the error is not there. Have a very bad
feeling about automatical updates since then. The bug seems "confirmed"
for 3 years, hm, so, I confirm it again :)

[Bug 651104] Re: intel graphics turbo disabled

2012-11-13 Thread Nikhil
I have the same issue.

My system was working with out any issue before restarting my system i
have installed following softwares.

1. Django,
2. Mysql server 5.5
3. Mysql benchmark

And i have installed few updates for ubuntu. It was showing as Security
Updates for Ubuntu. After installing Updates the update manager showed
that i should restart the system. On restart i got following error
message.

" failed to get i915 symbols, graphics turbo disabled". So i tried the
work around mentioned above. ie

1. add intel_ips to the blacklist
   echo "blacklist intel_ips" >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
2. add i915 and intel_ips to /etc/modules
   echo -e "i915/nintel_ips" >> /etc/modules

Now when start the system it freezes at Ubuntu splash screen.

I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, on Dell inspiron N1040. I need to boot the
system as i have spend lot of days configuring. Python and Django.

Please help

2011-11-17 Thread Srinivas Upadhya
Im using mac ubuntu 11.04 (which i also updated to 11.10) on my mac book pro.
The error occurs because of which im not able to use ubuntu in live mode.
After installing it tries to load mac theme fails and falls back to normal

times before & after update too.
Will i never be able to use ubuntu on mac?

I've noticed the message with Kernel 3.1rc9. Don't know whether I had it

[Bug 651104] Re: intel graphics turbo disabled

2011-08-01 Thread hawthornso23
This is still a persistent problem with me on my Dell E6510 with i5 processor.
Unlike some, I still had the problem after upgrading to natty.
In an effort to fix it I upgraded to a version of the 2.6.39.3 kernel
compiled with corei7 as native which some people said fixed the problem.
It didn't work for me.

OK - I reason. If the problem is modules loading out of order, then lets get
rid of the whole module loading issue completely.
So I compiled a 2.6.39.3 kernel with all components involved actually compiled
into the kernel and not merely compiled as modules. The results are ...
interesting.

[ 129.348552] intel ips :00:1f.6: failed to disable graphis turbo

and it continues to generate messages of this nature forever. It seems
to me therefore that this problem is a little deeper than just a problem
of modules loading out of order. Even when you compile everything
involved into the kernel itself, it still won't work. The intel_agp
module is compiled and therefore present in memory. The i915 module is
compiled and therefore present in memory. And yet they STILL can't find
each other.

Are we perhaps looking at something as simple as a spelling error which
stops i915 from recognising intel_agp because its name is misspelled?
After all if the person who coded this can manage to misspell "graphis
turbo" perhaps they also misspelled more important things.

Anyway I hope someone finds the information valuable.
Now I've got to go and roll back my kernel ...

Same problem on SONY VAIO VPCS12C5E, running Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 10.04

I tried the kernel supplied by Manoj on #36. I'm running Maverick amd64

and also have the "graphics turbo disabled" message, although I see no
decreased functionality with Intel graphics (I haven't tried to enable

Anyway, the kernel (I had to --force-architecture) does not work, the
system hangs with

[Bug 651104] Re: intel graphics turbo disabled

2011-02-17 Thread mans zigher
It worked for me. I followed the steps in
http://blog.avirtualhome.com/2010/11/06/how-to-compile-a-ubuntu-10-10-maverick-kernel/
but before building I patched the kernel with the patch from
http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/intel-gfx/2010-December/009017.html.
My new dmesg:
$ dmesg | grep intel

I have the same problem on my DELL Latitude E5510. I am not sure if this
is the solution but at the http://intellinuxgraphics.org/ mailing list I
the have made a patch which is not included in the ubuntu kernel (at
least I could not find it). I am going to try and patch a kernel but if
some one else would like to try here it is

messages log. But I'm not I'm not sure weather it's related to this

2010-11-21 Thread Jimmy Wylie
I have this problem on a Thinkpad t410s. Further, whenever I plug my
computer into an external monitor, the display on the external monitor
looks funky, with wavy lines etc.. like the refresh rate isn't set
correctly. just to be sure, I checked for the problem in windows, and
don't have an issue using an external display. I've tested this problem
on two different projectors, and two different monitors (I have to give
presentations fairly often). My thinkpad has an i5-540m processor.
