Embarrassingly, that sample does not actually trigger the bug I was reporting. A mod can please feel free to delete the 10MB waste of space, while I go back to the drawing board to figure out what combination exactly can reproduce it. Unfortunately, the only files I have that can reliably cause this problem are hundreds of MB.
