I was able to reproduce this using virtualbox. In 10.04, my favorites were firefox, evolution, cheese, empathy, ubuntu software center, openoffice spreadsheet, open office writer, update manager, and fspot. I know that netbook-launcher-efl changed its favorite path as discussed with Oliver or relied to the netbook-launcher ones. But as there is no more netbook-launcher favorites, I think they lost them.
