[Bug 655750] Re: manpage format too wide

2018-08-30 Thread David Britton
I'm sure there are many rendering problems with the page, but as the
site is fully redesigned now, it doesn't make sense to hold open this
bug about the old footers and headers. Raise a new issue if needed.
Thanks!

:)

We can probably take a look at #2. I'm going to bounce #1 over to the
design team.

@Ted: I can't reproduce the issue you've described in #2 in either
Chrome or Firefox on Maverick. Can you tell us which specific URL this
happens on and which browser/Ubuntu version you're using?

RE: [Bug 655750] Re: manpage format too wide

2010-11-30 Thread Ted Bodfish
I've experienced this in FireFox on both Lucid (have not tried Maverick
yet) and Windows, and in Internet Explorer and Google Chrome on Windows.

Try http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/lucid/man1/ls.1.html and narrow
it down so just the body of the man page and table of contents strip are
visible. The search text box and search button will disappear. Hit
refresh, and the table of contents strip will disappear. If you widen
the page again and hit refresh, the table of contents reappears.

I'd like to be able to narrow my browser window so that it just fits the
content of the man page, including the table of contents, and see the
search text box and button with no horizontal scroll bar.

Ted

After adjusting to the new manpage format on the web, I am pleased. The
format is much cleaner and easier to read - bravo! My enthusiasm is
tempered by two issues:

1. The header and footer displays are much wider than the content. It
would be nice to be able to adjust the width of the browser window as
narrow as possible without showing the horizontal scroll bar and still
see the content of the page as well as the header and footer. Currently,
when the browser window is adjusted to the width of the content, the
ubuntu logos and, more importantly, the search box scroll off the window
to the right.

2. The table of contents strip on the left disappears after a refresh.
