[Bug 65710] Re: kernel panic on edgy RC
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 63134 *** acpi=force and noapic or panic still _now_ bye -- kernel panic on edgy RC https://launchpad.net/bugs/65710 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 65710] Re: kernel panic on edgy RC
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 63134 *** This does happen in edgy final, and using acpi=force as a boot parameter works on the live/desktop install CD, so I have marked it as a duplicate. I have not been able to test it on an installed version on this system since I am now using dapper as my OS, but I am sure that it would be the same. ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 63134 Kernel panic - not syncing, when installing Edgy Beta1 -- kernel panic on edgy RC https://launchpad.net/bugs/65710 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Assigning against proper kernel and are you still getting this error in edgy final? ** Changed in: linux-meta (Ubuntu) Status: Unconfirmed => Rejected -- kernel panic on edgy RC https://launchpad.net/bugs/65710 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 65710] Re: kernel panic on edgy RC
I suspect this is a duplicate of 63134. Please mark this as as such if you agree. About 63134: * VIA chipset related * There's a workaround: use "acpi=force" as boot parameter. * The stable kernel.org kernels have had a fix for it for about a month. -- kernel panic on edgy RC https://launchpad.net/bugs/65710 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 65710] Re: kernel panic on edgy RC
This error does not occur in the 2.6.19-6 kernel in feisty, but I don't know if Ubuntu specific patches have yet to be applied which may be in 2.6.17-x. -- kernel panic on edgy RC https://launchpad.net/bugs/65710 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 65710] Re: kernel panic on edgy RC
I've tried to flip every switch in my BIOS on the power management screen, and nothing seemed to make a difference. There was no option to completely turn it off, though. -- kernel panic on edgy RC https://launchpad.net/bugs/65710 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 65710] Re: kernel panic on edgy RC
that has been unmarked as duplicate, as in fact it is not 64-bit related; please see the workarounds I've found to work for me in the other bug report (I hope for you that they will); if those will work, this must be definitely a duplicate ;) -- kernel panic on edgy RC https://launchpad.net/bugs/65710 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 65710] Re: kernel panic on edgy RC
The bug linked to seems to affect VIA chipsets, like my system, but there seems to be a duplicate of that (linked in the comments there) which has a fix released, but that fixed bug relates to 64-bit systems. -- kernel panic on edgy RC https://launchpad.net/bugs/65710 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 65710] Re: kernel panic on edgy RC
With all the updates applied and ubuntu-desktop and ubuntu-minimal installed the same error occurs. [Bug 65710] Re: kernel panic on edgy RC
I assume the live CDs have both ubuntu minimal and ubuntu desktop installed, but for the system installed on my hard disk I did a minimal install from breezy then dist-upgraded to dapper then edgy, so that I would have less to download.
