as Ubuntu tells me ...

John, I disagree. There is a check for read-only media, but it does not
always work. I do think that this is a bug that should be fixed.

  I think this notification is useless, because a CD-R/DVD-R is a read-
  only medium (I assume the CD/DVD disk is already burned), and therefore
  there's no data-loss risk.
