Software Updater no longer has a Check button, but this bug is still valid. Setting back to Confirmed because the desired behavior is not yet defined. The spec currently assumes that all automatic checks will be done while Software Updater isn't open. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SoftwareUpdates#check-automatic We need to work out what should happen when an automatic check triggers while it's open. Thanks for reporting this bug and any supporting documentation. Since this bug has enough information provided for a developer to begin work, I'm going to mark it as confirmed and let them handle it from here. I also have a tendency towards updating using terminal. When I am running updates and the update-manager opens and minimizes, it is quite an un-natural and unintended experience. To further add to the experience, I must then close update-manager after making it appear on my desktop.
