the 3rd log goes from when openoffice recovered the file to the end P.S. I have this problem since when I installed the support for the Italian language from "Language Support". I installed valgrind in order to debug openoffice. then I lauched openoffice with the following command: valgrind --show-reachable=yes -v /usr/bin/soffice That launched openoffice, in which I opened the file (in Italian) which was causing problems. It might be the Italian spellchecker. I confirm that OpenOffice crashed repeatedly on Edgy. It scared me, but eventually it worked again efter I purged and reinstalled OO, removed the user registry on my home catalog and restarted the system. I also crossed my fingers while starting my favorite office suite but confess that I did not say a prayer. I have tried the livecd but not for long and nothing happened. This morning I installed Kubuntu on my new hard disk and the same problem happened. John I'm using Version: 2.0.4-0ubuntu2 But I must admit that I had the same problem even before the final version of openoffice 2.0.4 was released. The RCs had the same problem. The file opens for me also on i386. Alberto what version of OO.o 2.0.4 are you using? (is it fully up-to-date).
