[Bug 674791] Re: natty session has many panel applets crash

2011-04-21 Thread Fabio Marconi
Hello Albert

Same problem not necessarily mean same root, the reported issue was during the
first stage of developement of Natty, and it was fixed in alpha1 release.
Actually I cannot reproduce this issue, with or without compiz, using just one
monitor, so I think that this is an issue in Xorg, but to evaluate this we need
to see the log files, automatically attached with apport-collect.
So please open a new report running in a terminal
ubuntu-bug xorg
Thanks
Fabio

[Bug 674791] Re: natty session has many panel applets crash

2011-04-20 Thread Albert Bicchi
Fabio,

In my comment above, I mentioned the same issues as described on
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-session/+bug/674791/comments/1
I get the exact same set of windows listed there where the plugins are not
getting attached to the panel.

[Bug 674791] Re: natty session has many panel applets crash

2011-04-19 Thread Albert Bicchi
This problem started happening for me on Natty and it was working fine on
Maverick. I am using the Ubuntu Classical Desktop rather than unity. My setup
is as follows two ATI video cards connected to three monitors.

Video card 1: two monitors at 1600x1200 each. I can add applets to these
monitors without a problem
Video Card 2: one monitor at 1400x900 (Some applets on this monitor crash, see
below)

I even tried creating a new panel on the third monitor and adding applets to it
and the error message still comes up:
Window List has quit unexpectedly
If you reload a panel object, it will automatically be added back to the panel.

I can add some applets to the panel but others fail with the message above, so
far these applets fail to attach to the panel:
Window List
Window Selector
Workspace Switcher
Trash
System Monitor
Show Desktop
Notification Area
Clock

The following apps attached fine to the panel
Main Menu
Menu Bar

[Bug 674791] Re: natty session has many panel applets crash

2011-01-19 Thread Martijn vdS
Some messages in .xsession-errors only show up when the applets crash:

Gtk-Message: Failed to load module gail-gnome: libgail-gnome.so: kan
gedeeld objectbestand niet openen: Bestand of map bestaat niet

(bluetooth-applet:1786): Gdk-CRITICAL **:
IA__gdk_window_thaw_toplevel_updates_libgtk_only: assertion
`private-update_and_descendants_freeze_count 0' failed

(nm-applet:1808): Gdk-CRITICAL **:
IA__gdk_window_thaw_toplevel_updates_libgtk_only: assertion
`private-update_and_descendants_freeze_count 0' failed

Gdk-ERROR **: The program 'gnome-settings-daemon' received an X Window System
error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.
  (Details: serial 1181 error_code 8 request_code 3 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
aborting...

[Bug 674791] Re: natty session has many panel applets crash

2010-12-22 Thread Brian Rogers
I see this too, but with my regular session. From dmesg:
[ 120.708422] gweather-applet[2047] trap int3 ip:7fe428be7815 sp:7fff8b13c610
error:0
[ 128.376930] gnome-power-man[1821] trap int3 ip:7f2b86901815 sp:7fff52053260
error:0
[ 128.376990] bluetooth-apple[1973] trap int3 ip:7f82c6734815 sp:7fffb9989f10
error:0
[ 128.377197] nm-applet[1972] trap int3 ip:7f449cd6e815 sp:7fff419e9fa0 error:0

Interesting that the ip ends in 815 each time.
