well, never actually found a way on how to fix it, but I installed a different video card on my PC and configured it through nano on the command prompt, so when I actually got video on the new device, all of the sudden I was able to see the loading splash screen. The problem was under ubuntu edgy and video device intel 82845GV video card (integrated). Do you mean the initial splash and the various "starting" messages are not seen ? Are you able to see the login screen shown by "gdm" or "kdm" ?
