Can you reproduce this by importing an image and trying to save it? I have the same exact problem on Kubuntu 10.10. Just did first time install of gscanpdf, then scanned 2 page document, tried to save it and got the above error. The PDF is still created fine after I click on the error. Sorry for taking so long to follow up on this. I suspected the problem might have been either an update or another application that was recently installed was clobbering the gscan2pdf app. So I decided to backup everything and re-install Ubuntu 10.04-1, which did clear up the problem.
