'Front Mic' refers to the *external* mic jack, not the built-in one. What are the contents of the codec dump (/proc/asound/card0/codec#0) after adjusting 'Mic' (and boost) settings? -- acer aspire 1551 build in mic is not working in pulseaudio apps https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/682065 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 682065] Re: acer aspire 1551 build in mic is not working in pulseaudio apps
After installing latest ALSA drivers the problem is still there. The only effect I see is that Front Mic Boost was renamed in Internal Mic Boost in alsamixer. But turning boot on it produces noise only. attached: /proc/asound/card0/codec#0 dump while Mic Boost is max ** Attachment added: +proc+asound+card0+codec#0.out https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/682065/+attachment/1748103/+files/%2Bproc%2Basound%2Bcard0%2Bcodec%230.out -- acer aspire 1551 build in mic is not working in pulseaudio apps https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/682065 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Especially in Skype. Though, it is working in apps that use alsa backend. I checked that with gnome-sound-recorder app. If you take a look on screenshot attached, I am running gnome-sound- recorder and it react on alsamixer changes. But gnome settings for sound expose only one input device, which input is silence without splashes. - Could some answer why pulseaudio cannot use build in mic? + Could someone answer why pulseaudio cannot use build in mic? [Bug 682065] Re: acer aspire 1551 build in mic is not working in pulseaudio apps
Your screenshot corroborates the fact that mic boost is zeroed, which generally results in very quiet or inaudible capture: Simple mixer control 'Mic Boost',0 Capabilities: volume penum Playback channels: Front Left - Front Right Capture channels: Front Left - Front Right Limits: 0 - 3 Front Left: 0 [0%] --- Front Right: 0 [0%] --- You actually need to set the slider to 100% or higher. ** Changed in: pulseaudio (Ubuntu) Status: New = Opinion -- acer aspire 1551 build in mic is not working in pulseaudio apps https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/682065 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
