Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

There should be an option to move the Ubuntu button and launcher to the right
side of the screen.
Reasoning:
a) It's pretty hard to target window buttons (close, minimize, maximize) in
Unity. If the launcher is set to Autohide, accidentally hovering over the
Ubuntu button shows the launcher, which obfuscates the window buttons. If
window buttons stay on the left, then they shouldn't have to be right next to a
"hot corner" (corner that's triggered on hover).
b) The Ubuntu button as well as the launcher makes more sense on the right,
where all the other system-related buttons are. Having all the window-related
commands separated from system-wide commands helps maintain focus.
c) If the Ubuntu button were to be moved right, window buttons could be
slightly shifted to the left corner. That means that there would be two very
useful corners, quickly reachable by mouse (as per Fitts's law) -- the left one
for closing an application, the right one for all the things the Ubuntu button
will do.
