[Bug 687542] Re: Update-manager does not restore original sources.list when upgrade fails
Well, actually, it didn't, which was why I found it strange. I had to manually edit the sources.list file to get the system back to its original state. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/687542 Title: Update-manager does not restore original sources.list when upgrade fails -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 687542] Re: Update-manager does not restore original sources.list when upgrade fails
You are correct. If the update had 'failed' then the original sources.list would be restored. But it seems your update went properly since you are successfully running 11.04.
Absolutely. Normally, if there's been an interruption, such as a bad internet connection, the system would "roll back" the changes. In this case, it didn't.
It looks like the system did complete the upgrade to 11.04. [Bug 687542] Re: Update-manager does not restore original sources.list when upgrade fails
In my case, it was not due to any internet connection failure - the system was missing some updates. I should have run the update before upgrading to the next version, but I forgot to do that in that instance.
I cannot seem to reproduce this problem. If I crash the update-manager by cutting the Internet connection, it does fail but it also restores the system sources.list to the original maverick one.
