[Bug 691014] Re: Lenovo x100e runs hot
koopee, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? As per https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/PowerManagementASPM a patch has been issued to address computers running hot. Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream- testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/691014 Title: Lenovo x100e runs hot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/691014/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 691014] Re: Lenovo x100e runs hot
Collected some random links about high pitch noise from the computer that could relate to this issue. In windows I hear the high pitch regulator noise and the battery life span is much higher. However, I recollect hearing the same sound with some previous version of Ubuntu. Those Ubuntu versions felt like being more power conservative. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/654475 http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/hardware/3516-i-think-i-got-rid-cpu-noise-good-core-duo-please-read.html -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/691014 Title: Lenovo x100e runs hot -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
