[Bug 69287] Re: powernowd uses "performance" as default scaling governor
This has now happened to me when I installed Jaunty Alpha 6. Has to be changed manually after each boot to ondemand. In Alpha 5 the default governor was ondemand, as is proper. I refrained from filing a new bug report, even though this one is old and "Invalid". Will this have an effect, or should I file a new bug? -- powernowd uses "performance" as default scaling governor https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/69287 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 69287] Re: powernowd uses "performance" as default scaling governor
On HP nx6110 Centrino the same problem. After upgrade from edgy to feisty the default governor is changed to performance. -- powernowd uses "performance" as default scaling governor https://launchpad.net/bugs/69287 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 69287] Re: powernowd uses "performance" as default scaling governor
The reporter claims this bug is unreproducable. ** Changed in: powernowd (Ubuntu) Status: Needs Info => Rejected -- powernowd uses "performance" as default scaling governor https://launchpad.net/bugs/69287 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 69287] Re: powernowd uses "performance" as default scaling governor
There was NO file /etc/default/powernowd Therefore, I made a fresh install and still there is NO such file. Fortunately this time it loads the ondemand governor. I checked in packages.ubuntu.com for powernowd and there is no mention of the file /etc/default/powernowd You can close the bug as I cannot reproduce it. -- powernowd uses "performance" as default scaling governor https://launchpad.net/bugs/69287 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 69287] Re: powernowd uses "performance" as default scaling governor
Does 'ondemand' get used correctly if you run: sudo /etc/init.d/powernowd start Use, there is a configuration file in: /etc/default/powernowd However, the curious issue here is that 'ondemand' _should_ be loaded automatically, and in the default configuration. If that is not happening something is broken. -- powernowd uses "performance" as default scaling governor https://launchpad.net/bugs/69287 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 69287] Re: powernowd uses "performance" as default scaling governor
Yes, I do this " echo ondemand " every time I boot the machine. And then the governor is changed. Is there any config file for controlling this behavior? -- powernowd uses "performance" as default scaling governor https://launchpad.net/bugs/69287 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 69287] Re: powernowd uses "performance" as default scaling governor
Mmm, this should happen by default. Can you check 'dmesg' for any information after you run: sudo /etc/init.d/powernowd dmesg | tail -20 What happens if you manually perform: echo ondemand | sudo tee /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor and then check the state of the governor with: cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor ** Changed in: powernowd (Ubuntu) Status: Unconfirmed => Needs Info -- powernowd uses "performance" as default scaling governor https://launchpad.net/bugs/69287 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
