[Bug 69529] Re: Sound intermittently not working on ThinkPad X60
I filed this bug on Mark's behalf, and he doesn't seem to be following it. I can't do anything with it, as I don't have the hardware. As such, I'm closing it. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Invalid -- Sound intermittently not working on ThinkPad X60 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/69529 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 69529] Re: Sound intermittently not working on ThinkPad X60
The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. There are one of two ways you should be able to test: 1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux- image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and test. --or-- 2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4. Please watch http://www.ubuntu.com/testing for Alpha5 to be announced. You should then be able to test via a LiveCD. Please let us know immediately if this newer 2.6.27 kernel resolves the bug reported here or if the issue remains. More importantly, please open a new bug report for each new bug/regression introduced by the 2.6.27 kernel and tag the bug report with 'linux-2.6.27'. Also, please specifically note if the issue does or does not appear in the 2.6.26 kernel. Thanks again, we really appreicate your help and feedback. ** Tags added: cft-2.6.27 -- Sound intermittently not working on ThinkPad X60 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/69529 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 69529] Re: Sound intermittently not working on ThinkPad X60
The 18 month support period for Edgy Eft 6.10 has reached it's end of life. As a result, we are closing the linux-source-2.6.17 Edgy Eft kernel task. Hardy Heron 8.04 was recently released. It would be helpful if you could test the new release and verify if this is still an issue - http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download . You should be able to test your bug using the LiveCD. Please let us know your results. Thanks. ** Changed in: linux-source-2.6.17 (Ubuntu) Status: In Progress => Invalid ** Tags added: edgy-close ** Also affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- Sound intermittently not working on ThinkPad X60 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/69529 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Here's a near-duplicate bug that appears to have a possible resolution: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.20/+bug/80893 When I have some time tonight I will test the kernel linked in the bugreport. One of the posters mentioned that this was a regression introduced into 2.6.20 by this change: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/lenb/linux-acpi-2.6.git;a=commitdiff;h=9185cfa92507d07ac787bc73d06c4eec7239 -- Sound intermittently not working on ThinkPad X60 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/69529 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 69529] Re: Sound intermittently not working on ThinkPad X60
I tried five suspend/resume cycles, as well as two hibernate/wake cycles. I had to resort to a "real" shutdown (poweroff) and restart before audio worked again. I'll keep trying other combinations of things to see if I can narrow the failure scenario down any. -- Sound intermittently not working on ThinkPad X60 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/69529 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 69529] Re: Sound intermittently not working on ThinkPad X60
I have an X60 as well, and I'm having similar difficulties with sound. If the sound works, it seems to work fine until a power event (reboot, sleep, or hibernate). After waking or cold booting, I've got about a 30-40% chance that sound will work. Unloading and reloading the alsa modules doesn't seem to help the issue at all. I've also tried fiddling with the gnome mixer, aumix, and alsamixer when this occurs and none of those tools have any effect. Pertinent information: X60 w/ Core Duo 1.83Ghz, running Ubuntu 7.04 with current updates BIOS version 2.10 (latest as of this writing) Kernel 2.6.20-15-generic I'm willing to pitch in with further bug triaging or testing of bits if necessary. -- Sound intermittently not working on ThinkPad X60 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/69529 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
