When I type the characters ö ä ü ß on the console, they won't get displayed. Instead, some weird graphics appears. Unfortunately I can't post a screenshot right now since I currently don't have any installation of Ubuntu ready to test. Hi, I am changing this to being fixed since the original author reported that it was fixed in Hardy. Also could you please elaborate on what you mean by German Umlauts isn't being displayed correctly. Maybe create a new bug request detailing what you are seeing? I can't reproduce it anymore in Hardy. The output of debconf and Midnight Commander is now correctly displayed (this wasn't the case when I originally filed this bug report). This bug still persists in Gutsy. I might be a dpulicate of bug 60600.
