Upstream bug closed with the comment below This sounds like a gphoto problem. Jim asked for more information from the original reporter months ago, and never heard back. We can't try to reproduce with his Optio camera since we don't have one at Yorba. The second user who reported this is no longer seeing the problem. Hi Jim. No, the problem hasn't gone away. Only if use gphoto2 from the command line, shotwell works fine. If I don't start gphoto2 before shotwell, shotwell doesn't work. Hi Jim. Some good news. After installing the brand new natty alpha 2 (must do that, because last update went wrong and killed my system), shotwell works now fine. All photos are transferd from the camera to the pc. I think, bug is solved in alpha 2 and can be closed. Hi Mike, Are you saying that the problem has gone away? If you try loading images from the camera again, do you now see them all? Looking at the camera log, it appears there are a number of timeouts when attempting to access the camera. I can also see gphoto2 traversing the filesystem but it appears to be having trouble finding the photo files. I'm not sure why, so I've forwarded the log on to the gphoto2 developers. Hopefully I have a response for you soon. Can you do the following? First, you'll need to install gphoto2 (a command-line program for libgphoto2): $ sudo apt-get install gphoto2 Then run this command: $ gphoto2 --debug --debug-logfile=camera.log -L This will generate a file called camera.log.
