[Bug 70247] Re: Thinkpad X60 bad battery life under 6.06
I think there has been a lot done since then with power management. Could you try Gutsy and/or the latest Hardy and see if this is still present? ** Changed in: powernowd (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- Thinkpad X60 bad battery life under 6.06 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/70247 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 70247] Re: Thinkpad X60 bad battery life under 6.06
The problem continues to persist in Feisty. The laptop runs hot -- almost too hot to use in one's lap, on occasion -- and the battery drains quickly. Note that mine is a core solo (I bought it days before the switch ...), and so the problem is not restricted to core duo processors. It's possible that this is actually a problem with the kernel -- see the thread linked below. Users in that thread are reporting that while the kernel reports the frequency as 1.0 GHz, other measures of processor speed indicate that no scaling is occurring at all. If the kernel is reporting false information, then it's not the fault of powernowd. http://www.nabble.com/thinkpad-x60-Battery- Life--%21-tf1971716.html#a7064764 -- Thinkpad X60 bad battery life under 6.06 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/70247 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 70247] Re: Thinkpad X60 bad battery life under 6.06
The problem seems to persist under Edgy as well. There's definitely a serious power management problem with Core Duo processors under Linux... -- Thinkpad X60 bad battery life under 6.06 https://launchpad.net/bugs/70247 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
