[Bug 704155] Re: No easy way to resolve conflicts

2013-02-15 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
** Description changed:

- Binary package hint: software-center
+ software-center 3.0.7, Ubuntu 10.10

I had VirtualBox 3.2 (commercial, not OSE) installed. I've downloaded
4.0, and executed the package so that Software Center opens it. It
greyed out the install button and only said it conflicts with 3.2
Virtualbox. I resolved it manually by uninstalling VirtualBox in the
terminal via apt-get, but there is no obvious easy way to resolve the
  issue in Software Center itself.

- ProblemType: Bug
- DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10
- Package: software-center 3.0.7
- ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-23.41-generic 2.6.35.7

[Bug 704155] Re: No easy way to resolve conflicts

2011-09-15 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Thanks for the report, Mike.

I should draw up a proper design for this, but I think the solution will
be an alert box the same as the one for removing dependencies
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SoftwareCenter?action=AttachFiledo=viewtarget
=remove-depended-alert.jpg, just with slightly different primary text:
{Title} can’t be installed unless these items are removed:.
