[Bug 708128] Re: Nagios-statd still using python2.5 which caused ftbfs in natty

2011-01-29 Thread Micah Gersten
A couple comments:
1. python2.7 is the default in natty, so shouldn't just python work in the
build-deps?
2. Did you confirm this actually still works? I saw a bug about python2.6 not
working, my guess is that would continue with 2.7:

[Bug 708128] Re: Nagios-statd still using python2.5 which caused ftbfs in natty

2011-01-28 Thread Bhavani Shankar
Hello mahyuddin

Thanks for your patch but debian still has python 2.5
http://packages.qa.debian.org/p/python2.5.html which will be phased out
as squeeze releases I guess and according to this
http://wiki.debian.org/Python/27transition at wheezy they are thinking
to support both py2.6 and py2.7 So it will be a better idea to talk to
debian maintainer and ask him weather he can provide normalized python
support so as to make the package run in both debian and ubuntu and then
sync it through

Waiting for your comments

regards

[Bug 708128] Re: Nagios-statd still using python2.5 which caused ftbfs in natty

2011-01-28 Thread Mahyuddin Susanto
Hello Bhavani

i talk to debian maintainer via debian bug 611191. I Totally agree if
Debian Maintainer normalized his python and make it sync rather than
merging.

In my opinion, this patch should applied if they won't change python support
before natty release.
Thanks
