[Bug 712650] Re: "Do nothing" option is missing for "When the suspend button is pressed:"

2011-02-04 Thread larcher
Well, I finally hit the right set of keywords to feed to Google and
turned up a hint - what I want is still possible via the gconf settings.
In case anyone else looking for a way to disable the Sleep key, the
following command did the trick:

gconftool -s /apps/gnome-power-manager/buttons/suspend --type string
"nothing"

[Bug 712650] Re: "Do nothing" option is missing for "When the suspend button is pressed:"

2011-02-04 Thread larcher
Thanks for the quick response. I thought this might be a bug, because I
seem to remember the option being there in past versions. While
searching for a way to get the option to show up again, I found an Idea
in Ubuntu Brainstorm ( http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/22323/ ), which
was marked as "not an idea" with the reply "Please file a bug report for
this issue." So I did. :-)

Am I remembering incorrectly? Has the "do nothing" option ever been
available for what to do when the sleep button is pressed?

I'm adding a comment to the Idea as well -- if it really should be an
idea, maybe we can get that on re-opened.

Thanks!

Thank you for taking the time to make Ubuntu better. Since what you
submitted is not really a bug, or a problem, but rather an idea to
improve Ubuntu, you are invited to post your idea in Ubuntu Brainstorm
at http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/ where it can be discussed, voted by the
community and reviewed by developers. Thanks for taking the time to
share your opinion!
