[Bug 718807] Re: Wireshark should use the default web browser

2011-06-14 Thread Thibault Lemaitre
I'm still a newbie and I don't understand why it's better to use one of
sensible-browser, gnome-www-browser or x-www-browser (system wide
setting) instead of xdg-open or gnome-open (user setting)?

I read the comment 5 in the bug 562476 with attention, and it seems that
Ubuntu application's shouldn't use sensible-browser, gnome-www-browser
or x-www-browser.

Wireshark uses sensible-browser an will continue to do so. Please adjust
sensible-browser to reflect your preference.

[Bug 718807] Re: Wireshark should use the default web browser

2011-02-15 Thread Thibault Lemaitre
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: wireshark

I installed Wireshark today and when I click to the link of the main
window, it doesn't open my default web browser (which is Firefox), but
  Chromium.

I'm on Ubuntu 10.10 and use Wireshark from the repo (so version 1.2.11)
and Firefox is set as the default web browser with gnome-default-
applications-properties (one can find it in the menu System -->
  Preferences).

  To reproduce it :
  1) Install wireshark (apt://wireshark), Chromium
(apt://chromium-browser,chromium-browser-l10n), and Firefox (apt://firefox)
  2) Check that Firefox is your default web browser with
gnome-default-applications-properties
  3) Launch Wireshark and click for example on "How to capture"
  4) What was the web browser used to open this link ?
+
+ I suppose Wireshark use one of sensible-browser, gnome-www-browser or x
+ -www-browser. To solve this, instead of the previous command, wireshark
+ should use xdg-open or gnome-open
+
+ More information : see bug 562476
