2012-06-18 Thread Jimmy Merrild Krag
Perhaps the headline and description should be updated, as the issue is
still present in Precise?

Adding "options video brightness_switch_enabled=0" somewhere in
/etc/modprobe.d brings it back down to two levels in 11.10.

[Bug 720912] Re: Maverick regression: Dell M1330 backlight brightness messed up

2011-10-16 Thread Ryan Thompson
I'm unmarking the acpid package as being affected, because it isn't
clear what is causing this problem, especially since the hardware stack
shuffle (eliminating hal and so on).

** Package changed: acpid (Ubuntu) => ubuntu

This bug has gotten even worse in 11.10. Now every press of the
backlight adjustment key changes the backlight brightness by *three*
levels.

[Bug 720912] Re: Maverick regression: Dell M1330 backlight brightness messed up

2011-08-15 Thread Ryan Thompson
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected natty running-unity

** Description changed:

The Dell M1330 backlight has exactly 8 levels of brightness. I expect
each press of the brightness adjustment keys to change the brightness by
one level. When I use the keyboard to adjust the brightness in GNOME, it
sometimes changes by one level, and sometimes changes by two levels.

- In Karmic, the buttons worked like I have describe above. In Lucid,
- everything worked correctly. In Maverick, we're back to the same
- behavior as in Karmic. So this is a regression in functionality.
