Hi all,
with korganizer-4.12.97-1.mga5 (KDE-4.13-RC) on Mageia Linux x86-64
Cauldron (what will become 5) I followed the instructions on this link -
http://askubuntu.com/questions/267187/sync-korganizer-with-google-
calendar#267191 in a new UNIX user account ("kdetest2") and could not
get the calendar to sync. Here are my notes:
* Investigate the problem with KOrganizer and the Google Calendar.
- It does not sync the events to the web-interface or the Ubuntu
machine at work.
- shlo...@gmail.com -> Right click -> Calendar properties - does not
popup the properties.
- shlo...@gmail.com -> Right click -> Update calendar - does not popup
anything.
This seems like an ongoing problem for a while and it's very annoying.

Hi, I recommend using the Akonadi Google Contacts Resource and Akonadi Google Calendars and Tasks Resource (akonadi_google_contacts and akonadi_google_calendar). Unlike the GData (and GoogleData) resources, these are actively maintained and tested and are shipped as part of KDE SC (in kdepim-runtime). I'll close this as unmaintained, as the Google Data resource are no longer maintained. The problem continues with Kubuntu 11.04 with KDE 4.7. Does anyone got any easy solution? The recompiling for me as a user is not the real solution. #25 Georgi, I've already given up on Akonadi and Google integration due to this perennial bug, but if you are really interested maybe you can try libkgoogle. @Christian Mangold I don't know the type of configuration u have on your system, but after seeing your comment, I decided to do a fresh install of Kubuntu 11.04 on another machine. Updated it to the latest packages and the only thing I installed was akonadi-kde-google-resource. even there I could not get it to work. It gave me invalid password. I tried again on virtualbox in livecd enviroment, and even there still couldn't get it to work. Maybe you should try this on a fresh install on virtualbox or something. Same here, recreating the Akonadi ressources does not fix it. Ubuntu Natty is now in beta. If this is just a packaging issue, it should be noticed now also by the packagers, before natty is put in freeze. As per the upsteam bug report, this affects at least kubuntu 10.10 with kde 4.6 from backports and natty with kde 4.6.1, and can be resolved by recompiling libgcal and akonadi-googledata. The bug status is not "new" but "confirmed". For the original bur reporter: In the calendar in kontact, you can right-click the 'akonadi_gcal_resource_x' and choose reload. This makes kontact freeze for some time, and produces the error messages described in the upsteam bug report. I noticed that libgcal requires libcurl4-gnutls-dev, while akonadi- googledata requires libcurl4-openssl-dev instead. according to the conclusions reached in KDE bug 264861 [1], this is a packaging bug. building and installing these same versions from source --even using a simple dpkg-buildpackage call for each one--appears to fix the problem. @Scott I don't know if you saw message about doing two fresh install (one on a completely different machine, and one on a virtualbox instance from livecd environment) and on both instance I am getting invalid password. Unless u are suggesting that for some reason I might have miss typed my password or something. Which is not so because I even typed my password on a Kate. Copied and pasted it on kopete and was signed in to gtalk. Did same for akonadi Google resource and same password for same username that worked with gmail and gtalk was said to be invalid on akonadi google resource. I would ask anyone to try this package on a freshly installed final release of kubuntu 11.04 and see if it works before marking this as fixed. Building the package from source use to work on kubuntu 11.04 beta 2 but when I did a clean install of the final release even that stopped working. In anycase I shouldn't have to build from source. The default package in the repo should work. It didn't hence this bug is not fixed! I filed a bug about this issue when my bug report was tagged as a duplicate of this present one. And I was subscribed to this report. Now I am told to file yet another one? Even though afaik there has been no Independent confirmation from users that indeed this issue as been fixed on the latest release of natty.
