Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ubiquity
universal-usb-installer was used to install ubuntu 10.10 server 64 bit. The installation halts with error: [!!] Load installer components from CD There was a problem reading data from the CD-ROM. Please make sure it is in the drive. If retrying does not work, you should check the integrity of your CD-ROM. Failed to copy file from CD-ROM. Retry? <Yes> < No> Modifying the file name "fs-secondary-modules-2.6.32-21-generic- di_2.6.32-21.32_amd64.ude" to "fs-secondary-modules-2.6.32-21-generic- di_2.6.32-21.32_amd64.udeb" in the folder "\pool\main\l\linux" solves the problem. There are 3 files in the "\pool\main\l\linux" folder on the usb stick which seem to have incorrect *.udeb naming: firewire-core-modules-2.6.35-22-generic-di_2.6.35-22.33_amd64.ud fs-secondary-modules-2.6.35-22-generic-di_2.6.35-22.33_amd64.ude pcmcia-storage-modules-2.6.35-22-generic-di_2.6.35-22.33_amd64.u apparently the file name is truncated when it is longer than 64 characters. The usb stick was created with Universal-USB- Installer-1.8.3.4 running on Windows 7 professional 64 bit. ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/727527 Title: usb disk created with universal-usb-installer fails to install -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
