I've been able to reproduce it 100% of the times if I have 2 xul windows in different workspaces, either 2 firefox windows, or firefox and thunderbird. Changing to each with the Scale plugin will trigger this bug. Still present in 11.10, can anyone else confirm? I'm only having issues with firefox and thunderbird, could it be xul related? I also confirm this. It usually occurs after one resumes session from gnome-screensaver, but it occurs randomly as well.
