Compiz seems to have edge resistance in current gutsy now, both with
wobbly on and with wobbly off

I experience this problem too. For me it's a real show stopper, I like
the desktop effect especially Expose. But without windows snapping to
the desktop edges, it's something I wouldn't enable.

actually it offers it, but you must use special keyboard shortcuts.

Ctrl + Shift + left-click, then drag moves window, with snap to screen
and window borders
