This bug is still present in Ubuntu precise. I can confirm seeing icons multiple times. Hi Omer, sorry to be again very pi**ed with the ubuntu we-do-not-care-for-bugs policy, but could you please explain why oh why this bug is expired and invalid if never ever anybody cared again to even investigate this further or close the bug? The string ATI Catalyst Control Center exists (at least) in the files /usr/share/applications/ubuntu-amdcccle.desktop (for generic language + de), ~/.local/share/applications/alacarte-made-3.desktop (for generic locale + de_AT), and ~/.local/share/applications/amdcccle.desktop (for generic locale + de). Why the icon is shown only twice and not three times is beyond me. The string ATI Catalyst Control Center (Administrativ) exists (at least) in the file /usr/share/applications/ubuntu-amdccclesu.desktop (de). I did a complete find / -name '*dia*.desktop' on my notebook and found multiple relevant files: /home/niko/.local/share/applications/menu-xdg/X-Debian-Applications-Graphics-dia_(gnome).desktop /home/niko/.local/share/applications/menu-xdg/X-Debian-Applications-Science-Engineering-dia.desktop /usr/share/app-install/desktop/dia-common.desktop /usr/share/applications/dia-common.desktop The files in /home/ are the ones, which do not show the application name and which do use a low-quality xpm icon. Changing the icon to another one or creating a new desktop file for an entry resulted in the expected behaviours. I did find similar files for all the other mentioned examples. Where do this files come from? Should they be ignored completely or merged with the global list?
