Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.38-7-server
Hi, I'm using lucid with a 2.6.38 kernel from the kernel ppa. My host is mainly running some KVM VMs (windows and linux right now) some Linux with virtio and some Linux without (the windows does not use virtio). At the time this happened, other PC was running rsync against a virtio (virtio-net and virtio-blk) guest (it is a backup) This has happened before with a 2.6.31 kernel from Ubuntu 9.10 too. Here is the backtrace in the host: Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960065] ------------[ cut here ]------------ Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960076] WARNING: at /build/buildd/linux-lts-backport-natty-2.6.38/net/sched/sch_generic.c:256 dev_watchdog+0x293/0x2a0() Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960080] Hardware name: System Product Name Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960083] NETDEV WATCHDOG: eth0 (ATL1E): transmit queue 0 timed out Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960085] Modules linked in: kvm_intel kvm bridge stp i915 drm_kms_helper drm coretemp psmouse i2c_algo_bit lp ppdev serio_raw asus_atk0110 parport_pc video parport joydev raid10 raid456 async_pq async_xor usbhid hid xor async_memcpy async_raid6_recov atl1e raid6_pq async_tx raid1 raid0 multipath linear Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960121] Pid: 0, comm: kworker/0:1 Not tainted 2.6.38-7-server #37~lucid1-Ubuntu Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960124] Call Trace: Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960127] <IRQ> [<ffffffff81064f8f>] ? warn_slowpath_common+0x7f/0xc0 Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960139] [<ffffffff8140c2d6>] ? ata_sg_clean+0x66/0xd0 Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960143] [<ffffffff81065086>] ? warn_slowpath_fmt+0x46/0x50 Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960148] [<ffffffff814fd113>] ? dev_watchdog+0x293/0x2a0 Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960153] [<ffffffff8142189b>] ? ata_hsm_qc_complete+0x4b/0x130 Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960158] [<ffffffff81013e23>] ? native_sched_clock+0x13/0x60 Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960163] [<ffffffff81013249>] ? sched_clock+0x9/0x10 Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960167] [<ffffffff8108d265>] ? sched_clock_local+0x25/0x90 Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960172] [<ffffffff814fce80>] ? dev_watchdog+0x0/0x2a0 Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960176] [<ffffffff814fce80>] ? dev_watchdog+0x0/0x2a0 Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960180] [<ffffffff81073802>] ? call_timer_fn+0x42/0x120 Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960184] [<ffffffff814fce80>] ? dev_watchdog+0x0/0x2a0 Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960188] [<ffffffff81074c34>] ? run_timer_softirq+0x144/0x260 Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960193] [<ffffffff81091019>] ? ktime_get+0x69/0x100 Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960198] [<ffffffff8106beeb>] ? __do_softirq+0xab/0x200 Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960202] [<ffffffff810963ef>] ? tick_program_event+0x1f/0x30 Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960206] [<ffffffff8100cf5c>] ? call_softirq+0x1c/0x30 Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960210] [<ffffffff8100e9c5>] ? do_softirq+0x65/0xa0 Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960214] [<ffffffff8106bdb5>] ? irq_exit+0x85/0x90 Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960219] [<ffffffff815dcd10>] ? smp_apic_timer_interrupt+0x70/0x9b Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960223] [<ffffffff8100ca13>] ? apic_timer_interrupt+0x13/0x20 Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960226] <EOI> [<ffffffff81014fbd>] ? mwait_idle+0x8d/0x140 Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960234] [<ffffffff815d8ada>] ? atomic_notifier_call_chain+0x1a/0x20 Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960239] [<ffffffff8100b067>] ? cpu_idle+0xb7/0x110 Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960244] [<ffffffff815cc06f>] ? start_secondary+0xc2/0xc4 Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58376.960248] ---[ end trace 5242b4dbc66ce661 ]--- Mar 30 04:49:17 hydra kernel: [58377.000340] ATL1E 0000:01:00.0: eth0: NIC Link is Up <100 Mbps Full Duplex> Also, there's nothing weird in the guest's syslog/kern.log And here is more information: root@hydra:/var/log# uname -a Linux hydra 2.6.38-7-server #37~lucid1-Ubuntu SMP Mon Mar 21 18:38:53 UTC 2011 x86_64 GNU/Linux root@hydra:/var/log# cat /proc/version_signature Ubuntu 2.6.38-7.37~lucid1-server 2.6.38 lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS Release: 10.04 root@hydra:/var/log# apt-cache policy linux-image-`uname -r` linux-image-2.6.38-7-server: Installed: 2.6.38-7.37~lucid1 Candidate: 2.6.38-7.39~lucid1 Version table: 2.6.38-7.39~lucid1 0 500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/kernel-ppa/ppa/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages *** 2.6.38-7.37~lucid1 0 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/745747 Title: NETDEV WATCHDOG: eth0 (ATL1E): transmit queue 0 timed out -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
