Not a bug for pcsc-lite.
The Debian ITP bug http://bugs.debian.org/485516 has been renamed RFP so the
Debian package may never be uploaded.

2010-06-03 Thread gja
Am trying this on 10.04 with a Dell D600.
Last year it worked in 9.04 (or was 8.10).
This year I can't get it to work.

pcsc-lite won't compile anymore.
Any clues on the needed pcsc-lite version?

2008-06-25 Thread François Cauwe
Hey Peter,

Sorry, my previous comment was a bit short, but I needed to go to a exam, which
went fine.
It is possible you didn't find you reader. Mine is just under my pcmcia slot,
it is just a 1 mm on 4cm thin slot.

Still, this driver will only make your smart card reader work. You should also
try the latest sources at:
https://gna.org/projects/o2scr
There is also a mailing list on for this driver:
https://gna.org/mail/?group=o2scr

I hope this helps,

François

[Bug 74724] Re: O2Micro Smartcard reader doesn't work, but the driver is available

2008-06-25 Thread peter b
re your last post François,

under the pcmcia slot the only thing I've got is an expresscard slot
that can accept 34 and 54 expresscards which are thicker than 1 mm. re
this expresscard slot -- to date I did not use it - a 34 32gb
expresscard is on order - as soon as it arrives I'll try this port and
see whether it is 'tied' to o2 micro.

as I said previously, in my case, the only way to use a bank card
(notice that I use this term instead of smart card to prevent any
confusion) reader is to use an ADAPTER on either one of these two
slots/ports (or any other pc port for that matter -- usb or the other
card reader that in my case is located in front of the pc just beside
the audio connectors) that accepts bank cards; again, as I said, I do
not intend to use any BANK CARDS to be read through any adapters
connected to any ports on this pc, reason ? v simple, safety and
security.

so, if you say that the topic of this thread is JUST for the BANK CARDS
reader .'I think you use the wrong driver and also post this comment
on a wrong bug.' ...then, as I said, just carry on with the task at
hand -- I'm not interested in making work on my pc any BANK CARDS
readers - simply just disregard my posts that encroached on this bug
opened by you.

the only thing I'm interested is to have fully functional and workable
ports/devices on this pc first, then, and only then, if the needs arise,
start looking into applications such as bank readers, etc, etc.

regards,
peter b

[Bug 74724] Re: O2Micro Smartcard reader doesn't work, but the driver is available

2008-06-25 Thread peter b
well, François, the confusion I think, comes from the very title of this
bug 'O2Micro Smartcard reader doesn't work, but the driver is
available'

just to be clear, my notebook has, as described on its manual, a
smartcard reader. but. for sure. I never used and do not see any BANK
card reader on my pc (unless an adapter for the pcmcia or expresscard
port or any other port for that matter is used to interface with a bank
card which is not in my mind at all)

secondly, this bug refers to o2 micro but I was v hard pressed to
see/find which chipset it refers to specifically - just read the
contents of the posts on this thread and you'll find a few chipsets
mentioned, all made by o2 micro, the one I'm having is just one that
differs from yours, Tor Harald's posted chipset above is another one
that comes to mind.

thirdly, your output of lshw command specifically pcmcia:0 is absolutely
the same like mine EXCEPT the chipset number and bus info (same
manufacturer though). on my notebook there is NO second pcmcia:1

then, consistent with lspci output posted above, lshw shows the other
3 devices but with a little more detail which I did not find useful to
post (just additional info that I post now just to align myself to your
line of thought)

SD Host Controller Integrated MMC/SD Controller id: 6.2
Mass storage controller Integrated MS/xD Controller id 6.3 UNCLAIMED
FireWire (IEEE 1394)id 6.4

so, here it is: now, if you feel that this bug is to REMAIN DEDICATED
just for BANK cards reader then just disregard my post and carry on
with the task at hand and accept my apologies for encroaching on this
thread.

regards,
peter b

[Bug 74724] Re: O2Micro Smartcard reader doesn't work, but the driver is available

2008-06-24 Thread peter b
hello,

this is what I've got on an acer travelmate 5520 running hardy gnome
amd64

lspci

0b:06.0 CardBus bridge: O2 Micro, Inc. OZ711SP1 Memory CardBus Controller (rev
01)
0b:06.2 SD Host controller: O2 Micro, Inc. Integrated MMC/SD Controller (rev 02)
0b:06.3 Mass storage controller: O2 Micro, Inc. Integrated MS/xD Controller
(rev 01)
0b:06.4 FireWire (IEEE 1394): O2 Micro, Inc. Firewire (IEEE 1394) (rev 02)

the latest from

http://pieleric.free.fr/o2scr/

for some reason it does not compile, comes down with errors and .
install complete mssg-- the log doesn't tell me much for the reasons
-- didn't try any patches; maybe the script is not for this chipset.

in any rate, it's a v interesting aspect of all the above controllers -
first how they're identified and second how they behave with ubuntu -
just pcsclite and musclecard packages installed

- first, the cardbus bridge listed -- the pcmcia interface slot (the pc
card built in) through yenta bridge sees at least 2 pcmcia cards that I
plugged in -- one a two port 1394 card and the second, a pcmcia adapter
to a cf 2gb card -- the first is v well identified by lspci as a two
EXTRA 1394 ports (in addition to the built in 1394 more on this later)
and the second is identified as a plugin extra storage device (lke any
usb plugin storage dev); based on this it appears -for sure- that it has
nothing to do with the built in pcmcia slot function, however it's also
a bridge to some other controllers.

- second and third controller listed -- this pc/notebook has also a
card reader slot -- when a sony MS stick is plugged in it is NOT
identified -- there is NO action of any kind, however, and here's the
interesting part -- when a sdhc 16GB stick is plugged in it is
identified in a flash as an extra storage device; conclusion, one
controller works the other does not.

- the forth 0b:06.4 FireWire (IEEE 1394): O2 Micro, Inc. Firewire (IEEE
1394) (rev 02) listed, at the moment I did not try the built in 1394
interface port - I do not have a 1394 card reader or another device that
can interface with it; I'll see if I can get a 1394 card reader and see
it this port works -- I'll report results after trials

I installed xp just to see how these devices are seen; as reported on
question #36528 ...'these devices show up in xp as scsi storage
controller, pcmcia and 1394'

the xp vista/xp64 zip that works is attached.

regards,
peter b
