[Bug 749265] Re: workspace switcher

2011-05-02 Thread GonzO
I, too, would enjoy a way to get this off of my launcher.

I'm elated I found out how to get rid of those lenses; this would be the
last step. Also: Trash.

[Bug 749265] Re: workspace switcher

2011-05-01 Thread 3vi1
I agree that it makes more sense to have it on the panel. Additionally,
there should be a way to remove it completely. Those of us running non-
Expo-type plugins and only using the vpswitcher plugin to move around
desktops find it a waste of space (that does nothing when clicked).

[Bug 749265] Re: workspace switcher

2011-04-03 Thread Tóth Csaba
Here is a picture I created with GIMP.
This is my idea... This is tablet friendly...

I removed Workspace Switcher from the launcher and placed on the panel.
When you single click on the icon the menu pops out and you can directly go to
a workspace or look all of your workspaces or add/remove workspaces (workspace
settings).

Yes, I also removed Find Files and More Apps because if you click on the
ubuntu logo (up-left corner of the screen) the Dash comes out and those
two menus can also find there... So they are unnecessary on the
launcher.

[Bug 749265] Re: workspace switcher

2011-04-03 Thread Tóth Csaba
** Description changed:

  (sorry for my bad English)

Why the workspace switcher is on the launcher?

I think the laucher reserved for applications... So I suggest that to move
the workspace switcher to the panel.
When I want to switch between workspace I just click ones with the left mouse
button.
And when I want to switch directly to a workspace or add/remove (settings)
workspaces I click on the icon (which is on the panel) with the right mouse
button then a menu pops out and there is a list about the workspaces and the
end of the list there is "Workspace Settings".
- This is the best place where workspace switcher can take place. Because if
someone doesn't need workspace switcher (use only one workspace) then on
her/his computer workspace switcher won't take unnecessary place on the
launcher.

- Yes, I know this is a little bit mac os x solution...
+ Yes, I know this is a little bit mac os x solution...
(the attached image is about mac os x leopard "spacesmenu"...)
But in mac os x when you want to see all the workspaces you get it with a
shortcut. (I know)
In Ubuntu (perhaps) you get it with a left mouse click on the switcher.

+ Yes, I know Unity must support tablets...
+ So because tablets:
+ - It can be done with one or two "clicks".
+ - Or just one click on the icon then the menu pops out and everything is in
that menu (directly switch, settings, workspace switcher).
+
(One more time: sorry for my bad English)

  This is just my opinion.
