[Bug 74978] Re: Hiding panel sometimes disappears.

2008-10-15 Thread Harald Sitter
Interpid doesn't have panel hiding. Closing bug as invalid.

It will be reintroduced in KDE 4.2/Kubuntu 9.04, please reopen this bug if this
issue reappears there.
Thank you.

[Bug 74978] Re: Hiding panel sometimes disappears.

2008-09-06 Thread David Nemeskey
Yes, very annoying indeed.

As Kevin wrote, I also use the panel menu (I have two panels) to bring
back the lost panel. I don't really use GTK applications, only Firefox,
and still it happens often; but I use Firefox often so I'll keep an eye
out for this, too.

Still a problem for me as well in Kubuntu Hardy.

Any chance of a fix/ work-around? - its not critical, but it is very
annoying!

[Bug 74978] Re: Hiding panel sometimes disappears.

2008-06-30 Thread Kevin Krumwiede
Still a problem in Kubuntu Hardy - cleanly installed this time, not
switched from vanilla Ubuntu. It's happened to me countless times and
it's only ever affected the bottom panel.

Sorry to rain on Bruno's reproducibility, but the case that brought me
here again did not meet that description. I switched desktops and
clicked an application in the task bar that was not minimized, to bring
it to the foreground. It was not brought to the foreground, and the
panel disappeared and would not reappear.

Changing *any* setting on *any* panel and applying the changes restores
the bottom panel's 'show' behavior.

I can't quantify this, but I feel like this happens more often (maybe
exclusively) with GTK applications. I'll try to remember to keep track.

2008-05-14 Thread Bruno Guedes
Right, more information.

I believe this behaviour is "predictable".

>From what i can tell, i know the panel will not pop up the next time i
move my cursor to the bottom edge of the screen when i click on a
minimized window to (maximize and) bring it to the foreground and
nothing happens. The panel just disappears - as it should - but the
window does not come up.

A "me too" regarding both Edgy and Hardy.

And Why isn't the Panel-setup included ind Kubuntu's "System Settings"?

[Bug 74978] Re: Hiding panel sometimes disappears.

2008-04-04 Thread Bruno Guedes
Currently using Hardy (beta), with KDE v3.5.9, and the problem persists
with a system fully updated from all official repositories (universe,
multiverse, restricted, main) as of 4th-April-08, 23:00GMT. I still use
the same preferences - "hide immediatly" and "no hide animation" - and
this was a clean install from the Hardy Beta/KDE3 cd.

Also, reading Kevin's comment, i will add further clearing.
The Taskbar is set to occupy 100% of the available lenght (in my case, the
whole bottom), with "Expand as required to fit contents" unchecked), and the
"Position" is set to be "bottom centre". Size is "Custom", set to "48 pixels"
(though i think this is the pre-definition for large, but i'm not sure).

The fix/workaround is still the same: KControl > Panel > set the taskbar
"Position" from "bottom left" (to where it reset when the bug occurs)
back to "bottom centre".

This is no way a critical bug, but it is quite annoying, all the more so
it happens frequently and i can't seem to be able to determine what
triggers it. I -think- it is related to activating a lot of GUI stuff at
the same time, like moving a window, click+focus another, activate menus
and so on..

Same problem here in Kubuntu 7.10 with kdesktop 4:3.5.8-0ubuntu2. Same
panel configuration. Hmmm...

My left-side panel hasn't gotten stuck yet, only the bottom one. But I
only just switched to Kubuntu (from vanilla Ubuntu) about a week ago.
