Hello Ayke, Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with Thunderbird. You made this bug report in 2011 and there have been several versions of Ubuntu and Thunderbird since then. Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the ticket? No, thunderbird-gnome-support is not an extension, it is a meta-package to pull in some gnome libraries. Nothing in it requires anything from libnotify-bin. I've no idea. You need to report extension bugs to whoever provides you the extension. In any case, if if you have downloaded an xpi from addons.mozilla.org and it depends on libnotify-bin, then there's not much the extension author can do about that other than tell you to install it (xpi's have no way to declare dependencies on distro- packages).
