There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. I've got the same problem. I tried to check / uncheck the keys under "Apps/Indicator-Session/" (eg. suppress_shutdown_menuitem & suppress_logout_restart_shutdown) both in gconf & dconf, but no change When running "/usr/lib/indicator-session/gtk-logout-helper --shutdown", the dialog is shown, and I can choose between "shutdown", "restart" & "cancel".
