Re: [Bug 756909] Re: no borders, no panel
I nearly certain that I did not see such dependencies in aptitude, and I know that there were no broken packages. I did a complete upgrade, then followed the upgrade instructions successfully. There were no errors, no false starts. I'll check the details when I get home. Is there any log that you might want to see? --buck On Fri, Apr 22, 2011 at 12:00 AM, Didier Roche didro...@ubuntu.com wrote: Buck: unity depends both on compiz-core and compiz-plugins-main. Upgrade completed with no errors, but upon reboot, I get no window borders and no task bar, rendering the desktop useless until I manually start metacity and gnome-panel. There was also a linux-kernel crash report, but I believe (given my minimal expertise) that it was unrelated. I'm attaching that crash report as well as a couple miscellaneous logs. ok this isn't a bug with unity but perhaps a packaging bug or a botched upgrade. ** Changed in: unity Status: New = Invalid ** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete ** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Didier Roche (didrocks) ** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu) Importance: Low = Medium -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/756909 Title: no borders, no panel -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Maybe your GPU drivers don't support Unity (yet), you can install Unity 2D from software center in the meantime. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/756909 Title: no borders, no panel -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 756909] Re: no borders, no panel
@Bilal: this is not the issue. I was eventually able to get things working by installing the full compiz package ( only compiz-core was required by dependencies ) and running the compiz-window-decorator. I'll need to fiddle with it some more to find how to reproduce the bug exactly. At this point it seems like insufficient dependencies on the unity package. --Buck -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/756909 Title: no borders, no panel -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
