Still present in Ubuntu 13.10. The website http://eion.robbmob.com/ is currently down, so I cannot check the latest version 7 workaround. Yes, this bug is annoying. The solution is just as n3ko said, and the .so file (and instructions) can be found here: http://eion.robbmob.com/ it can work with the pidgin-skype package, without installing skype4pidgin.deb. I can confirm the fix. Actually the bug is already fixed upstream!
