[Bug 773086] Re: changing clock display options has no effect
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running apport-collect and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue. ** Changed in: indicator-datetime (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/773086 Title: changing clock display options has no effect To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-datetime/+bug/773086/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 773086] Re: changing clock display options has no effect
Bugs always happen, but that's not the point. How can someone write software that does not complain if a library is missing? Usually the Operating System should not even start a program as long as it does not find all libraries. How did these programs (or the desktop) even start when the library was missing? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/773086 Title: changing clock display options has no effect -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 773086] Re: changing clock display options has no effect
Well, Unity is very new. And Canonical set fixed deadlines rather than "when it's ready", so sometimes mistakes happen. Programmers are only human, after all. Reporting bugs and finding fixes is helpful, and I'm glad I can participate - even if it's just a tiny bit. You could always ask for your money back. ;-) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/773086 Title: changing clock display options has no effect -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 773086] Re: changing clock display options has no effect
The question is: Why is that nasty heap of software not able to tell that a library is missing? Several bugs where depending on just that ridiculous problem, and people didn't find the solution. Who wrote such bad software? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/773086 Title: changing clock display options has no effect -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 773086] Re: changing clock display options has no effect
Yup, that worked. Also fixed the problem where my Unity launcher wouldn't remember launchers I'd put in it. Something in unity should probably start depending on libdconf0, I suppose. [Bug 773086] Re: changing clock display options has no effect
Got the solution of my bug #778188, which was marked as a duplicate of this bug. Incidently, the solution of another problem, bug #778321 , related to the unity launcher, solved this as well: the package libdconf0 was missing (not installed by the upgrade 10.10 -> 11.04). Install it, logout, login, and both of my problems have been solved. (But why the hell do the settings of the clock go through the dbus nightmare? Does this make any sense? This damned dbus brings in too much complexity and is a source of plenty of bugs too complicated to debug in resonable time.) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/773086 Title: changing clock display options has no effect -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
