Steve, I think this is not a bug, but just the way k9copy works: it needs you to manually open DVD first. Please Luka, don't close it as invalid. There is an error here, it happens to everyone who starts using k9copy for the first time: the program says DVD is not opened and we start to wander what happens. Another way is to disable the controls that report the error until the dvd is opened. Google brought me here because I, too, was looking for the cause of the dvd is not opened message. I followed Luka's suggestion to perform an open first and now I'm all set. I think you just need to perform File - Open... (press Ctrl-O) action in order to read DVD layout.
