I've been told that Linux in general follows the lowest common denominator design principle. For instance, if it can't find a driver that works with device X, then, it keeps trying older and older device drives until, boom, one happens to work. This often results in the box running much much much slower than it should, in terms of hardware, but happens. I am running into similar problems, and things are s slow (after this GNOME error message), than it's prohibitive in terms of installing the OS. again, nothing gets written to disk, and the install window never loads for me. I got the same problem here, with an Athlon 1400 and 128MB of RAM. Unfortunately, I can't give you the xsession-errors either, because, as I try to restart X, the system crashes. How could I attach ~/.xsession-errors without the OS being Installed.It even didnt started installing the OS, it got struck. Tell me how to do it.
