Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gconf
Login takes an exceedingly long time. When the desktop does finally appear, a window appears with the following error message: "GConf error: Failed to contact configuration server; the most common cause is a missing or misconfigured D-Bus session but daemon. See http://projects.gnome.org/gconf/ for information. (Details - 1: GetIOR failed: Timeout was reached)" Other similar errors have been reported, but they all seem to be in response to SSH or remote desktop logins. This is a normal login, although the user home area is NFS-mounted from another host via LDAP+NFS+AutoFS. This auto-mounted methodology works properly on all other hosts running Ubuntu-9.10. The problem host differs in that it is running Ubuntu-11.04.
