[Bug 776662] Re: network-manager-gnome crashes on logon after the last update
I have waited several days and updated everything that came along. Today I upgraded the last remaining libpanel-applets to the last version 6.5 No freeze happens. I have no idea why the machine froze. It did and there is nothing I could do about it. It doesn't now. So, feel free to close this incident. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/776662 Title: network-manager-gnome crashes on logon after the last update -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 776662] Re: network-manager-gnome crashes on logon after the last update
I can't make sense of why the gnome-panel updates would make the system freeze -- there's just nothing in it that would affect nm-applet to the point of freezing the whole system. I notice there's been a few suspend and resume cycles in the logs you attached, maybe this has something to do with it? Does it crash if you suspend your system, resume it, and try to connect to a wireless network? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/776662 Title: network-manager-gnome crashes on logon after the last update -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 776662] Re: network-manager-gnome crashes on logon after the last update
Just another observation: Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre suggests that this error has something to do with the Broadcom device. I doubt that. The notebook worked just fine 5 hours ago. After the last update, the freezes occured. I believe that this latest update has caused the freezes. How can I figure out which libs were installed (in Synaptic there is a history function but I used Update Manager)? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/776662 Title: network-manager-gnome crashes on logon after the last update -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

And I notice here it shows network-manager-gnome as not installed, so it doesn't seem like it would be an issue with NetworkManager... or at least, it makes it rather unlikely. ** Changed in: network-manager-applet (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete ** Changed in: network-manager-applet (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/776662 Title: network-manager-gnome crashes on logon after the last update -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 776662] Re: network-manager-gnome crashes on logon after the last update
Did some more research (e.g. found the history file from apt). The following packages have been installed that are related to panel functionality: gnome-panel-data:amd64 (2.32.1-0ubuntu6.4, 2.32.1-0ubuntu6.5), gnome-panel-bonobo:amd64 (2.32.1-0ubuntu6.4, 2.32.1-0ubuntu6.5), libpanel-applet-3-0:amd64 (2.32.1-0ubuntu6.4, 2.32.1-0ubuntu6.5), libpanel-applet2-0:amd64 (2.32.1-0ubuntu6.4, 2.32.1-0ubuntu6.5), gnome-panel:amd64 (2.32.1-0ubuntu6.4, 2.32.1-0ubuntu6.5), gir1.2-panelapplet-3.0:amd64 (2.32.1-0ubuntu6.4, 2.32.1-0ubuntu6.5), The rest deals with pulse audio, openoffice, perl, python and some generic files. Downgraded above mentioned version to 6.4. It works again. [Bug 776662] Re: network-manager-gnome crashes on logon after the last update
This is the last report from my experiments: gir1.2 6.5 causes a problem with the windows switching applet the gnome panel libs work fine. Must be any of the libpanel-applet libs maybe in combination with gir1.2 This I leave for you to figure out. I go to bed.
