I belive this affects me as well I have a GA-P55A-UD3 rev2 motherboard, Realtek ALC892 no sound at all when 10.10 upgrade to 11.04 Ive tried various fixes including what pascal did
I've tried installing the high definition audio codec from http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsview.aspx?langid=1pfid=24level=4conn=3downtypeid=3 (LinuxPkg_5.16rc14.tar.bz2) but still not working. This actually removed everything that was in hardware, input and output in the audio configuration panel: I have now only the dummy output
with the same results now i only have dummy hardware When i try to reinstal the alsa-base it wont install the driver ive been getting help here https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+question/158845 but nothing has worked yet ;) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/779049 Title: [P55A-UD3, Realtek ALC892, Green Speaker, Rear] No sound at all -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

To the original bug reporter, you could try opening alsamixer in a terminal, and unmuting the speaker control. I've check sound preferences again. Internal Audio is the default output device. And volumes in preferences or alsamixer are 100%. I'm using Realtek ALC892 with a fresh ubuntu 11.04 natty and I have the same problem but I think it may be because my chipset is not supported. [Bug 779049] Re: [P55A-UD3, Realtek ALC892, Green Speaker, Rear] No sound at all
For those who have replied to the bug with what they think is the same issue, you all have different hardware, so please file separate bugs for each of your own problems, using ubuntu-bug audio. To the original bug reporter, ahve you checked to make sure you have the correct output device selected in sound preferences? Click on the speaker icon in the top right of your screen, and choose sound preferences. Go to the output tab, and make sure internal audio is selected. (It appears your graphics card also had audio output, which could be selected for some reason). If that doesn't help, please get a log from the sound server, as explained here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PulseAudio/Log. Attach the log to this bug when done. Thanks. ** Changed in: alsa-driver (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/779049 Title: [P55A-UD3, Realtek ALC892, Green Speaker, Rear] No sound at all -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
