[Bug 791770] Re: empty vpn

2011-09-27 Thread Aaron Roydhouse
With recent patches network manager menu is barely functional. Using
latest stock NM on stock 11.04.

Typically after a restore the sub-menus for 'More Networks...' for wifi,
and the 'VPNs' sub-menu, turn into empty little stubs, so you can select
anything that is supposed to be on them. So far a completed restart is
the only way I can restore them; stopping/starting the network-manager
service or stopping/starting networking doesn't help.

With last update the enable/disable wireless doesn't work, once
connected to wifi I can switch to a wired configuration any more. After
restore the 'Edit connections...' option doesn't work.

Does NM/Ubuntu only support Unity now? I tried hard to switch to Unity
for 4 full weeks with 11.04, but I just couldn't my work done with all
the chrome problems; it just killed my productivity. So I am back on
Gnome + Docky.

[Bug 791770] Re: empty vpn

2011-09-27 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
Aaron, the issue you're reporting is something different, please file a
separate new bug report. We don't support just Unity but it does happen
that people run into issues that don't get identified until after
release, which is why it's good to file separate bugs for your own issue
(and I'll mark as duplicate of another once that's ascertained).

This was fixed in Oneiric with the latest revisions of nm-applet, it
works properly in xubuntu, ubuntu, even gnome shell. Closing Fix
Released.

It takes a bit of time before it will show, but I think I can now
conclusively say this is fixed in code I'm just about ready to
upload
